What will my child need in the Early Years Unit?

We ask parents/carers to provide the following bits and pieces to ensure their children are prepared and comfortable for their time in the Early Years Unit.

Nappies, wipes and nappy cream

If your child is in nappies we ask for a supply of these items to be able to keep your child lean and fresh.

Spare clothes

Your child will get mucky, wet or messy from time to time at in the unit as we do lots of exciting messy and creative activities, so please do not put your child in their best clothes and having spare clothes means that we have enough clothes for children to change into.  Children in Cherry will also take part in these types of activities and although we try to protect clothes please be understanding if children come out of school a little messy.

We will take the children out into the garden in the rain and they love to splash in the puddles.  Wellies can be brought in daily or left at the unit for use as and when needed.

Clothing to suit the weather

The children will go out into the garden whatever the weather, so warm coats, gloves and hats or sunhats are needed as the weather changes.

Sun cream in the summer

We ask parents/carers to put sun cream on their children before they come into the unit each day if it is hot/sunny. We recommend that parent/carers put long lasting factor 50+ sun cream on their child.

Please ensure that any items brought into the Early Years Unit are clearly labelled with the child’s name. We also ask if you can bring in your child’s Red Medical Book and Birth Certificate when they start so we can record relevant information.
