Throughout your child’s time in the Early Years Unit, staff will write regular observations about them. These are compiled in a special book, alongside photographs, pictures and things your child has said and done. This helps us to build up a picture of your child and therefore enables us to enhance their development in a variety of ways.
To support us further with this process, we would love family members to write short observations/notes about what the child does at home. We will be providing slips of coloured paper where any members of the family can write something special about your child. Examples of this could be:
“Hayley gets very excited when reading “Dear Zoo” with Nanny, and makes noises for all the different animals.”
“James was really pleased with himself when he completed his Thomas the Tank Engine puzzle all by himself! It had 12 pieces. He has been telling everyone about it!”
“Pierre set the table for dinner putting the knives and forks in the right places and he counted all the cutlery as he put it out up to 15.”
“Jacob slept through the night in his own bed for the first time last night.”
“Adela put on her own shoes, then we went to the shops and she helped find the food to put in the trolley.”
It maybe something you have noticed your child doing, something they have an interest in, or just something you wanted to share with us.
Please do not feel that you have to write lots, we would value any information you can share with us. Please ask us if you would like more information, or if we can support you to share your observations. The slips can be given to staff in the unit.
We look forward to reading about all the things your children can do and have been getting up to!
Thank-you for your continued support.
